The term ‘minimal’ is often used to describe two piece bands, and yes, Right Hand Left Hand do feature one guitarist and one drummer, but that’s as afar as you can take any tenuous White Stripes reference. RHLH instead loop and weave layer upon layer of killer riffs that subvert the quiet/loud dynamic of post-rock into a loud/louder burst of action that won’t let your stroking fingers get anywhere near your bearded face.
The spiritual beginnings of Right Hand Left Hand occurred when both members heard Trans Am for the first time in a club in Groningen, Netherlands. While both members have featured heavily in other Cardiff based bands, RHLH is an opportunity to break out on their own. 2 guys playing 2 guitars and 2 drum kits, centred around a loopstation, random instrument swaps and all the while attempting to find out how heavy is too heavy.
Since the birth of Right Hand Left Hand they have supported the likes of Dead Meadow, Errors, The Mahjonng, The Mae Shi, Future Of The Left, Super Furry Animals, Funeral For a Friend, Los Campesinos and Rangda, as well as several festival appearances. The debut album which will be accompanied by a collection of remixes from the likes of Super Furry Animals, Underpass, bravecaptain, Zwolf and Victorian English Gentlemens Club will be out later this year.
