Himalayas formed in late 2015 and comprise of Joe Williams (vocals / guitar) Mike Griffiths (guitar and vocals) Louis Heaps (bass) and James Goulbourn (drums).
They released their debut EP – Ecstasy, to positive reviews the following August. Their latest single ‘Thank God I’m Not You’ was released in May 2017 and has been championed by Edith Bowman on Virgin Radio and featured as her record of the week. The track also received airplay on Radio 1, (Huw Stephens), Radio X (John Kennedy) and Amazing Radio (Elise Cobain).
Himalayas have also spent the last year and a half playing the length and breadth of the UK including shows in London, Brighton, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester Leeds and their native South Wales. Highlights include the Isle of Wight and Reading festivals 2017. Their sound can be described as heavy, slick guitar driven rock with one critic saying they sound like ‘Arctic Monkeys heavier cousin’. Many of the songs have an anti-capitalist sentiment with the strength of the lyrics betraying the young age of the song writers. The next release, a second single ‘Eye On A Hurricane’ will be released to coincide with the bands performance at the 2017 Reading Festival. Catch this band in a small venue before it’s too late.
