    Colorama

Colorama are a British psychedelic folk pop band – the brainchild of Carwyn Ellis, the Welsh wonder, a respected multi-instrumentalist & uber-producer who has performed or collaborated with the likes of Edwyn Collins, Oasis, UNKLE, Shane MacGowan, James Hunter, Lay Low and Pete Molinari to name just a few. Colorama’s debut album ‘Cookie Zoo’ received a Japan release to giddy critical acclaim, and their first single, ‘Sound’ is an instant psych pop wonder – a perfect introduction into a sonic world you won’t wanna leave. ‘Magic Lantern Show’, featuring songs in Welsh and English was released last summer with ‘Dere Mewn’ becoming a modern classic in Wales and garnering rave reviews and lots of airplay on both sides of the border. Described as ‘incredible’ by Huw Stephens and hailed a ‘Soft Psych Classic’ by Sean Rowley, Magic Lantern Show has been enthusiastically received with extensive radio play on XFM, BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio Wales. This autumn sees their third CD release – ‘Box’ to much anticipation – the delights contained within are sure to win Colorama many more admirers both at home and further afield…

OF MAGIC LANTERN SHOW, ROUGH TRADE SAY:

symphonic-psyche sensations colorama return with a new seven track ep, after the success of last year’s 7″. informed by the likes of harpers bizarre or the freakier side of the beatles, ‘magic lantern show’ (on london-based label redbricks) is as tuneful or melodic a set of songs as you’re likely to hear this year. counting horns, bassoons and a church organ among the usual array of guitars and drums this is no ordinary band… one minute sunshine pop-syke, one minute disjointed circus music, then a waltzing acoustic number, then trippybackwards guitars and beats… colorama have many strings to their bow, but all of them perfectly enchanting. prepare to fall in love!
