From the remains of the Llanrwst bands ,”Y Mellt” and “Mwg Drwg” came the Pheonix from the ashes that was “Crysbas” ,and this started Bryn Fon`s long love affair with the Welsh Rock Scene ,back in 1976 . In 1988 , “Sobin a`r Smaeliaid” was born after a troublesome pregnancy and bad nursing , it blossomed against all the odds to be a huge influence on the pop world , with their album “CAIB” outselling all who had come before them (even the legendary Edward H. ). With the arresting of Bryn in 1990 for allegedly being part of the “Meibin Glyndwr” Arson Campaign the band shot to fame increasing their fanbase at home and abroad.
In 1993 a gaggle of session musicians gathered at Sain Studios in Llandwrog , under the leadership of producer Les Morrison they recorded a collection of songs by Emyr Huws Jones called “Dyddiau Di-gymar “. With Bryn singing they went on a short promotional tour , enjoyed themselves so much they decided to stick together and form a band . Some of the Smaeliaid were invited to join and so “Bryn Fon a`r Band “ came into being.
Some like Rhys Parry (guitar) and Graham Land (drums) have been members from the very start , others such as John Williams (synths and keys ) have been playing for over a decade . More recently we have been delighted to welcome Niel “Maffia” Williams to our midst.
Sian Land and Nia “Plas” Williams , who sang on the original “Dyddiau Di-gymar” have come back to the fold recently .
