Hailing from Sicily, New York and New Mexico, and comprising of current or ex members of Uzeda, Girls Against Boys and Don Caballero, BELLINI specialise in rock music as it should be – intense, primitive, brutal, startling. An almost mechanical rhythm section of clattering tribal drums and monolithic basslines provide a counterpoint to Agostino Tilotta’s stark, savage guitar playing. Giovanna Cacciola’s desperate, insistent, and at times harrowing vocals further accentuate the battle between control and catharsis that propels this band forward. Each song is imbued with a pain and rage that is never quite fully unleashed – instead it is expressed in repeated phrases and mesmeric mantras that create a tense and hypnotic live show.
BELLINI’s new record, The Precious Prize of Gravity, was released on Temporary Residence last year (home to the likes of Explosions In The Sky, Mono and Grails).
